For instance, if I were a Software Developer, I would ensure my profile includes ‘SQL Server,’ ‘C#,’ etc., multiple times. Doing this will increase the chances of your profile popping up when someone searches for these skills.
Regarding your experience section, make sure your previous roles match your CV. Talk in-depth about the skills you gained and experiences you had in each workplace. This will help sell your profile to the recruiter/potential employer.
Having a profile picture and ensuring your profile has full visibility is very important. You can find this in your settings. Without a profile picture, the employer may consider the profile inactive or get the impression that you don’t care about your professional appearance.
If you have already left your previous position, your contract is coming to an end, or you’ve informed the employer that you’re looking to leave, click that you are ‘looking for work.’
Not only will this increase visibility amongst recruiters/potential employers, but your connections will see your ‘looking for work’ banner. You never know who might know who and what opportunities might come about through your connections.
Networking
Creating genuine connections with co-workers and professionals in your industry can be extremely worthwhile when it comes to the job search process.
You may want to ask for advice, question job openings, or simply have a chat; creating connections has never been so easy, and as they say, “It’s not about what you know, it’s about who you know.”
Similarly, I would highly recommend asking current and former co-workers for recommendations and/or endorsements for your profile.
These will boost your credibility and might make the difference between a recruiter calling you or moving on to the next profile they find.
